Project Overview:
The Ukrainian Hub at The Lighthouse Woking helps with the integration journey of Ukrainian refugees in Woking. The English Speaking Club is an initiative for enhancing Ukrainian adults English communication skills. This club aims to boost their confidence, allowing them to communicate more freely and effectively. This project hosts weekly conversation sessions to mixed ability English learners.
Role Description:
We are looking for local people who can spare their time to regularly attend our Friday evening English speaking club at The Lighthouse Woking. Providing a supportive environment where Ukrainian adults can improve their English language skills, boost their confidence, allowing them to communicate more freely and effectively. Support individuals to take an active part in group conversations through encouragement and motivation. Ensure sessions are fun, interesting and of value by using a wide range of appropriate discussion topics. If you like to make new friends, and would like to help Ukrainian people speak better English, we would like to hear from you.
Key Skills:
Able to adhere to team guidelines and advice from team leader.
Good listening and speaking skills in the English language.
A welcoming, approachable, positive attitude.
Excellent communication skills and team player who gets along well with others.
Non-judgemental, open-minded and friendly with the ability to encourage people of different ages and English speaking ability.
Days Available:
Friday evenings, 6.15 - 7.15pm.
Hours Needed:
6-7.30pm. Team is required to arrive for 6pm to prepare and have team time together, as well as having a debrief after the session.
